Mind The Gap

Hello. My name is Ralph, and I’m anĀ Arizonan by way of Wyoming. I’m a believer, a husband, a father of four, and a sportswriter/podcaster. I like when all the numbers on my car’s odometer form a pattern. I do not like pineapples.

I believe our time here is best spent closing the gaps between who we are and who we want to be. I believe our time is worst spent letting those gaps fill with resentment and regret.

The title of my personal blog is an homage to Ursula Le Guin’s “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas,” in which LeGuin described both a utopian society, as well as the unknown place where some people wander off to once they discovered that the utopia they enjoy is built on a foundation of an injustice they’re unable to excuse. I feel like the latter encapsulates so many of us– we’re the post-innocence wanderers. This blog is just me trying to describe where my feet land on that journey.
